UK airline easyJet hopes to officiate in-flight weddings

Couples could soon be tying the knot in the skies if UK budget airline easyJet is allowed to hold mid-air marriage ceremonies. The low-cost airline is investigating if the pilots could have the authority to carry out the weddings in mid-air. The captain will hand over the plane to the co-pilot to officiate the wedding at the front of the plane. While United Airlines and Ryanair are considering extra charges for overweight passengers to generate more revenue, this in-flight wedding proposal by easyJet is really innovative and unique. The legal details are yet to be worked out. Paul Simmons, easyJet’s UK regional general manager, said…

If there is the opportunity, our pilots could be marrying couples in the air. Future brides and grooms can say ‘I will’ on the flight from London Gatwick to Olbia, on Sardinia, for example. After their marriage at a height of 30,000 feet they then can go directly on their honeymoon.

The idea of mid-air marriages sounds great, but I think we should let the pilots do what they good at.
